VOLUNTEER AT DAY CAMP
You'll be a great fit to volunteer at Day Camp if you...
-
Are friendly and calm, especially under pressure.
GSKSMO expects camp staff to have a friendly attitude toward girls, parents, and other staff by smiling and greeting everyone you meet, getting to know others, and welcoming all girls who are attending camp to ensure they feel a sense of belonging. Girls will look up to you and see you as a role model.
-
Are a team player.
Sometimes you may be tired or under stress, but your teammates and your campers will count on you to be there for them 100% of the time. At camp, staff always need to see the cup as half full and not let a bad day affect those around you.
-
Love working outdoors.
We have rest areas, however, you will be regularly exposed to natural allergens, insects, animals, weather, etc.
-
Are good at switching gears.
All staff need to be ready and eager to help with all areas of camp at any time! Poor weather, last minute changes, and supply availability might change our entire day of plans, and you’ll need to adjust with a smile.
-
Are willing to follow a dress code.
We get it, it’s camp, but staff still need to look neat and professional at all times.
-
Pay attention to the little things.
It doesn’t take much to make a BIG difference at camp—a warm smile, a chat with someone sitting alone, a second to pick up litter. These acts create the positive and inviting culture and environment we strive to offer all campers.
-
Live by Girl Scout Promise, Law, and mission at camp.
The Girl Scout Promise and Law are the ways Girl Scouts agree to act every day toward one another, other people, and the world. Camp staff will need to become Girl Scout members and therefore abide by the Promise and Law.
Available Positions:

BUS MONITORS

Each bus will need a lead volunteer to ensure the safety of campers. You will be in charge of ensuring the campers follow rules, keeping track of who is on your bus, and handling emergencies if they arise.
Reports to the Bus Coordinator
Note: monitors must be 18 years or older and carry a cell phone where they can be reached on the bus in case of an emergency.

FLOATING VOLUNTEERS

Day Camp is always looking for people to help where help is needed. There are so many moving parts that you may find yourself filling water stations, running to the store, or jumping in to help with a program. Floating volunteers help fill the gaps each day.

STATION VOLUNTEERS

Day Camp is Girl Led. Station Leaders help Teen girls plan, test, and execute activities. Station Volunteers will meet with Teen Leaders Sundays from 2-4pm as scheduled to help the Teens prepare and plan their station. The Station Leaders will also supervise the execution of the station during the Camp.
