Unit Aide Role

The role of a Unit Aide at Girl Scout Camp is to lead a group of campers, better known as a Unit. The units are by grade level and range from 1st to 6th grade. The Unit will participate in station activities, lead by Station Aides.


Unit Aides are teens that can range from 7th to 12th grade, but generally from 9th to 12th grade. Most Unit Leaders will be paired with another Unit Aide, but can lead solo, depending on skill level and need.

The Unit Aide Role has Several Responsibilties

Attend Girl Scout Teen Camp Meetings to prepare for Camp - there will be craft supplies available to help with your activities

  • Select a Unit Name to go with the Camp Theme

  • Make a Unit Flag

  • Make a Unit Mailbox

  • Make SWAPS to represent your Unit Name

  • Make a poster for your Unit Buckets - the bucket will be filled with songs, games, snacks when at camp

Email the families of your campers to schedule the Unit Party - you should NOT use your school email account

  • Use the email template below 

  • Provide all 4 date we have reserved the Central Resource Library's Carmack Room

  • Choose the date/time that works for most families

  • Send Second email with Date verification

Dear Parents/Guardians,

NAME. And we are so excited to be your girls' unit aides at Girl Scout Day Camp this year!
Girl Scout Day Camp is on June 15-17, 2025. Our theme at camp this year is Animal Kingdom
our unit name is UNIT NAME.


We would like to get together with the Scouts on one of the following dates/times/locations.
Please let us know which one works best for everyone.

  • May 5: 5-8pm Central Resource Library

  • May 6: 5-8pm Central Resource Library

  • May 14: 5-8pm Central Resource Library

  • May 15: 5-8pm Central Resource Library


This will be time for everyone to get to know each other, make our swaps, and talk about what
to expect at day camp. We'll also have a list of what you should bring to camp each day.
We will need two un-related adults to stay for the meeting so that we can ensure we meet Girl Scout Safety Ratios. But all adults are welcome to stay, and we are happy to answer any questions you might have. Please let us know which parents/guardians will be staying.

Unit Parties

The Unit Party is to introduce yourself to the campers

  • Must be held at one of the 4 times we have reserved the Central Resource Library

  • There must be at least two un-related adults with Girl Scout background checks present at your meeting - Camp Leadership can assist as needed

Possible Unit Party Activities

  • Make SWAPS

  • Campers can help decorate the flag and/or bucket poster

  • Teach the campers a song or game

  • Snacks are optional

Unit Aides have a budget of $40 for crafts, snacks for your party. Etc. You will need to turn in your receipt to Camp Leadership for reimbursement.

While at Day Camp

Ride the Bus with your Unit

Lunch Break with all Teen Leaders at Neill Lodge
